Zora in the hospital...

Hello.

There's much to say about our experience in the hospital, but it was largely positive and went well. We got a baby out of the deal, anyway. R will no doubt have a lot to say, along with details, but I've just put together a little photo essay of our first couple of nights there.

Friday evening, when we were still jazzed enough to not be exhausted, R's parents came up and brought us pizza, wine, ale (spilled twice), salads... We had a nice little welcoming party in that little, little room.

The fold-out bed I used was a bed in name only, and R's bed wasn't all that great either, but we didn't get a chance at much sleep anyway. If I wasn't walking with her, she was in bed with R-- we tried to keep her with us as much as possible, and she really only left for "vitals" every few hours or so.

So many of you have already sent congratulations and good wishes, and we really, really appreciate them. We feel so very lucky.

Say hello to Zora!*

*I've since learned that aside from this Zora, her sort-of namesake (be sure to read her linked essay against the Brown vs. Board of Education decision), there is this Zora, and this Zora... Ah, well. Here's another!

Oh my golly she's a cutie. I couldn't help but run across this Zora today ...

We can't wait to meet her.

That is the coolest thing I've seen in some time. Great find! I copied it for future use. Maybe a wall mural in her future bedroom?

Once we find that jar filled with a million dollars we'll be out to visit...
